2008 Reserve de Leoville Barton, St.Julien, Bordeaux
Elegant fruit and solid structure. Classic St. Julien of a distinctly superior character.
Anthony Barton is unusual for a Bordeaux Château owner in that he is staunchly sensible about the pricing of his 'grand vins' Leoville and Langoa Barton and this is also the case for the second wine of Leoville Barton. This 2008 is a good wine from an underated vintage that is starting to show more finess and complexity than the pundits gave it credit for initially. It is looking rather good now. For drinking in the medium term. Fine now but at its best from 2015.
