2009 Château du Pin, Bordeaux
Upfront lively fruit but with a satisfying length of flavour.
A magnificent find from the Entre deux Mer region of Bordeaux. This predominantly Merlot based wine has all the charm and hallmarks of the excellent 2009 vintage from Bordeaux. We selected this wine as it shows forward juicy unctuous ripe cherry fruit with a smooth elegant wrap of fruit tannins. The wine has not been aged in oak barrels, so the pure fruit is a great example of the quality and style of the 2009 vintage - ripe, healthy grapes usually equal juicy wines. Owned by the Balland family for six generations, this estate recently passed into the hands of Juliette Balland when she received it as dowry for her recent engagement! In the garden sits a magnificent 250-year-old pine tree that the domaine derives its name from.
