In their own words: "Spring was cooler than usual, and this feeling of coolness was heightened by plentiful days of rain and a Mistral that blew fairly regularly and would continue to do so until the end of the cycle giving us precious help, but also destroying much in its path. Until June 15th, we had a mixture of showers, fine days and windy periods of rare violence. Then came a period of three hot and dry months, which, coupled with the new water reserves, promoted a sudden acceleration in the growth cycle, which seriously disrupted our harvest schedule. In these perfectly healthy conditions, we began picking the white grapes in late August, and finished with a slow ripening plot of Mourvèdre on October 5th. The Vieux Télégraphe shows fine harmony, poised between freshness and the vintages slow-uncoiling quality; its black, too, markedly bitter, with great backbone.
