Côtes du Rhône 'Les Promesses', The Adnams Selection
Baked plums and herb aromas with concentrated richness and heartwarming substance.
Choosing the supplier for our own Côtes du Rhône was no easy matter. We found that vital mix of character, great value and a 'green' approach to their viticulture at Etienne Gonnet's Châteauneuf estate of Font de Michelle. They have a patch of some 10 hectares of vines about 30 kilometres south of their estate. With soils resembling those of the bolder strewn Châteauneuf they grow Syrah, Grenache and Counoise grape varieties with minimum use of herbicides or pesticides and produce a full bodied red that is every inch what we think good Côtes du Rhône should be.
