We are just getting used to not calling this Côtes de Ventoux. Now just plain Ventoux according to latest AC laws. The famous mountain called the Mount Ventoux acts as a focal point for Provence. Well known as part of a gruelling leg of the Tour de France, this area produces wines that are expressive, rich and elegant. The wine comes from soil rich in limestone, and the grapes are ripened slowly. Etienne Gonnet runs the well-known Châteauneuf estate of Font de Michelle. He has branched out and now buys-in selected wines from other local appellations to have under his own label. Well connected he is able to get his hands on the best fruit and makes great wines like this joyously fruity Ventoux. This wine goes perfectly with a typically provençal apéritif ; tapenade, charcuterie and olives or with sliced black truffles , olive oil and sea salt on freshly sliced bread. Accompanies meals such as grilled meats or a fresh, creamy goats cheese.
