The Tattybogler Pinot Noir Rosé, Central Otago, Forrest
Red cherry and strawberry aromas with a crisp dry palate.
Forrest rosé is so good that we came up with the idea of producing a Sancerre inspired rosé with John Forrest over lunch in spring 2009. We thought it would be an exciting opportunity to create a small parcel of Pinot Noir rosé and here's the first vintage. John chose his 'Tattybogler' vineyards for this premium rosé as he believes it's producing the best fruit for this style of wine. The Tattybogler rosé is a blend of Pinot from Waitaki Valley and Central Otago. All fruit is cropped low for optimum flavour and hand harvested. After picking, the skins are left in contact for just a couple of hours to extract a little colour prior to pressing and fermentation. Surprisingly for rosé, we had winter in mind for this wine! Bottled late June, it's drinking perfectly. The rich succulent Otago Pinot Noir delivers silky cherry and strawberry fruit, that enables it to compliment a variety of dishes.
