Brian Sullivan tasting Flying Kiwi Sauvignon BlancOur wine range just keeps getting better. For instance, recently a little bird landed in our shops from half way around the world bringing with it two spectacular wines. That little bird is the Flying Kiwi and from its nest in the heart of Marlborough on the South Island of New Zealand, is the herbaceous, tropical packed Flying Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc - a varietal that thrives in this region's sunny, cool climate.  Alongside it, and from the same area and with heaps of strawberry and clove aromas, is the awesome Flying Kiwi Pinot Noir – a wine so smooth and rich from its perfect growing conditions it could easily be mistaken for a young Burgundy! Trust me, these are two hatchlings you won’t be sorry trying!

Flying Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc (£6.99)
Made by the multi-award winning Andrew McCorkindale, the fruit that goes into this sauvignon blanc is sourced from selected vineyards in the Marlborough region.  Pale straw with a slight green appearance, aromas of bell pepper, gooseberries, passion fruit and hints of pea pod, lends it way to a tropical fruit burst on the palate.  This is so crisp and fresh you’ll have a hard time keeping your glass full!

Flying Kiwi Pinot Noir (£9.99)
Andrew McCorkindale has been making wine in his native New Zealand for over 25 years. He also spent several years honing his winemaking skills in Germany and France, too. It is from this time spent abroad that Andrew brought back and introduced these old world techniques applying them in both vineyard and winery. The results of these practices are evident in this Burgundian influenced pinot noir.  Beautiful garnet coloured with strawberries, cloves and hints of apple aromas follow through in the mouth with flavours of rich raspberries, soft spices and cherries.  A real meeting of old world meets new world if ever there was one!

Finally, if you love Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc, try John Forrest's superb Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc (£9.50)
