Wines of Israel

Image of vineyards in IsraelVines thrive in Israel, and the country lays claim to being the cradle of the world’s wine industry. Israel’s viticulture is divided into five regions: Galilee, Samaria, Samson, Judean Hills and Negev and the main varieties grown include decedents of the original vine cuttings imported from France in 1882 (Carignan, Grenache, Alicante Bouquet and others) after Baron Edmond de Rothschild donated 60 million gold francs to support viticulture.
