Port tasting and lunch
Saturday 24th October at 11am
The Swan Hotel Reading Room
Paul Symington is Chairman and senior partner of the Symington family Port business (Dow's, Warre's, Quarles Harris, Graham's, Smith Woodhouse, Vesuvio), who have been making Port in the Douro since 1882 (in fact, since 1652 if you count Paul's great-grandmother Beatrice Atkinson's lineage). The family has 25 Quintas (Port wine estates), making them by far and away the leading owners of Douro vineyards, which at the last count, added up to a massive 2,321 acres.
They are the only traditional Port company that is owned by just the one family, and every single family member of the Board has their own vineyards. Paul himself farms 32 acres of his own vines.
Join Paul in the Reading Room at The Swan for a pre-lunch tasting of his Ports, and afterwards for lunch.
The tasting will be from 11am - 12.15pm in The Reading Room, followed by a two-course lunch and coffee at 1pm, in the dining room.
Enjoy tasting a range of Ports spanning nearly half a century:
Graham's 2000, 1994, 1970 and 1963 Vintage Port
Warre's, Dow's, Graham's and Quinta do Vesuvio 2007 Vintage Ports
