Riesling

Explore Riesling

We love Riesling for its pure, fresh, piercingly vibrant flavours, and its ability to pair fantastically well with food. Most Rieslings benefit from a few years ageing in bottle, but even when young, they are a delight.

We’ve selected six of our favourites from around the world so you can experience the kaleidoscope of flavours this wonderful variety has to offer.
It’s an all-weather wine for all occasions – so keep a bottle or two in the fridge.

Vineyard in the Mosel, GermanyOriginating from the Rhine region of Germany, the Riesling grape has travelled far. This aromatic grape has a long history in Germany with written references dating from the 1400s, and it’s still the country’s leading grape variety.

It’s also been growing in the Alsace region of France since the 15th century where the climate, soils and winemaking methods give Alsace Riesling a different style (softer, floral) to its German neighbour. The vine travelled further afield to the New World where it was first planted in Australia in the 1800s, but it wasn’t until the 1970s that New Zealand joined in with its own production. Riesling has since flourished in the relatively cool climate of the Marlborough region.

Riesling with food
